Unlocking The Power Of Inner Vision

Have you ever experienced seeing a mental image or impression while praying, such as a vivid scene like a movie, snapshot, freeze frame, memory, flashback, or symbolic image, that seemed to come out of nowhere?  This is an inner vision, a powerful tool for spiritual growth, guidance, and insight.

WHAT IS INNER VISIONS?

Inner vision is the ability to perceive or receive mental images, impressions, or insights that are not visible to the physical eye. It’s a way of seeing or sensing things in the spiritual realm, often through the mind’s eye or intuition.

This is different from a Closed or Open vision.

It’s a powerful way of receiving guidance, wisdom, or revelation from God.

Acts 2:17

“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.'”

2 Cor 4:18:

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Eph 1:17-18:

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened.”

Inner visions are a way God communicates with His people, providing guidance, encouragement, and insight.

Every believer can experience inner visions, regardless of age, gender, or spiritual maturity.

TIPS FOR RECEIVING INNER VISIONS

  1. Ask God to give you spiritual sight

Pray for God to open your eyes to see what He wants to show you

Ephesians 1:17-19 says:

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”

– Psalm 119:18 “

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”

– 2 Kings 6:17

“And Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’

  1. Pray in the Spirit

Praying in the Spirit allows the Holy Spirit to pray through you and release spiritual insight (1 Corinthians 14:14-15, Jude 1:20).

Praying in the Spirit is a powerful way to connect with God and access the spiritual realm. When you pray in the spirit, you’re allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through you, and this opens up a deeper level of communication and insight.

1 Corinthians 14:14-15:

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding.”

  1. Listen and observe.

Pay attention to any impressions, images, or sensations you receive.

– Habakkuk 2:1-2 says:

“I will stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. And the Lord answered me: ‘Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.'”

Jeremiah 24:3

“Then the Lord asked me, ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?

1 Corinthians 2:9-11

“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.

Colossians 3:2: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

When you pay attention to what you see or sense during prayer, you may receive:

  1. Mental images or pictures
  2. Impressions or sensations
  3. Words or phrases
  4. Emotions or feelings
  5. Insights or understanding
  6. Discern and test

Seek confirmation through Scripture and prayer

Discern the source of the vision (is it from God, self, or elsewhere?) (1 John 4:1-3).

Additionally, consider the following:

Emotions and Sensations:

Pay attention to the emotions or physical sensations accompanying the images. These can provide additional insight or emphasis.

Symbols and Metaphors:

Images may contain symbols or metaphors that require interpretation. Reflect on their possible meaning in the context of your life and prayer.

Confirmation:

Look for confirmation of the images through Scripture, prayer, or circumstances. This can help discern their origin and significance.

Remember, the interpretation of images received in prayer is personal and subjective. Take time to reflect, journal, and pray about the images, seeking clarity and understanding.
